| Balance | When every part of nature has just enough, and nothing takes too much |
| Bioluminescent | Able to make its own light, like a firefly |
| Bladderwort | A real water plant that sucks tiny animals into underwater traps |
| Boom and bust | When a population grows too fast, runs out of food, and crashes |
| Carnivorous plant | A plant that catches and eats animals, usually insects |
| Carrying capacity | The most of one kind of living thing a place can feed, year after year |
| Consumer | A living thing that eats other living things |
| Exopack | The breathing mask humans wear on Pandora |
| Extinct | Gone forever; no more of that kind of living thing exists anywhere |
| Eywa | The Great Mother: the living network that links all life on Pandora |
| Food chain | A list that shows what eats what, step by step |
| Food web | Many food chains connected, showing who eats whom |
| Gas giant | A huge planet made mostly of gas, like Jupiter or Polyphemus |
| Imprinting | When a baby animal learns to follow the first moving thing it sees |
| Keystone species | A species that many others depend on |
| Loreyu | The shy spiral plant that curls into the ground when touched (helicoradian) |
| Lure | Something that looks or smells like food, used to attract an animal |
| Mycorrhizal network | Fungus threads that link plant roots underground, the "wood wide web" |
| Nectar | A sweet, sticky liquid made by a plant |
| Oral history | History kept by telling it out loud, from person to person |
| Predator | An animal (or plant!) that hunts and eats other living things |
| Prey | An animal that is hunted and eaten |
| Producer | A living thing that makes its own food from sunlight, like a plant |
| Queue | The long braid a Na'vi uses to connect with animals, plants and Eywa |
| Superconductor | A material that carries electricity perfectly and pushes magnetic fields away |
| Tak | The small, blue, four-eyed swamp duck of early Pandora |
| Taktswìkyu | The giant duck-eating plant of early Pandora |
| Tesla | The unit used to measure how strong a magnetic field is |
| Toruk Makto | Rider of the Last Shadow: a Na'vi who bonds with Toruk |
| Tree of Souls | The most sacred place of the Omatikaya, where the Na'vi connect with Eywa |
| Tsaheylu | The bond a Na'vi makes by joining their queue to an animal or tree |
| Tsahik | The spiritual leader of a Na'vi clan |
| Unobtanium | The floating mineral humans came to Pandora to mine |
